What I learned hiking the Grand Canyon…

“I believe that every human has a finite amount of heartbeats. I don’t intend to waste any of mine.”- Neil Armstrong

Our lives are filled with infinite possibilities, but we only have a finite amount of time on this Earth. Even though we know our time here is limited, it’s so easy to lose sight of this truth and take it for granted.

Last weekend when I spent time in the Grand Canyon, I was just blown away by its beauty and depth. It made me realize just how small we are compared to the vastness of this Earth & Universe. It helped put things into perspective.

The thing about life is that it’s fragile, precious and unpredictable. The days tick by and we just expect that they will keep on coming; until the unexpected happens.

But each day is a gift. And while death should not be feared, it’s also inevitable. So, it’s time to stop worrying about small insignificant stressors and use the time we have to live more fully.

We shouldn’t be wasting precious moments playing small, just getting by, or being unhappy. It’s time to enjoy learning, growing, loving, and becoming the best possible version of ourselves. It’s time to take chances, leap out into the world, break out of the fear and limitations holding us back, move out of our comfort zone, and to appreciate and take advantage of all the life that exists around us.

Love your life. Love all the wonder and beauty it offers. Love its challenges and the trials too, because they help you grow the most. Be grateful that you’re here. Be grateful for your family & friends too. Don’t waste your life. Don’t take things for granted… use your heartbeats wisely.
